We are friends

We, the peoples of North America, are friends. We are family. We are neighbors. We are many, and we are one. 

 

We will not be turned into enemies

We are not enemies. We reject lying, disinformation, coercion and violence as foundations for individual, collective, and government action. We condemn bullying, stereotyping, and scapegoating in the media, online, or in real life. We are not at war with each other and will not allow false declarations of emergency or invasion to divide us.

 

We have each other's backs

We will not accept political propaganda as a pretext for deploying troops, for seizing and militarizing our border lands, for separating families, for using trade and commerce as political weapons, for challenging the sovereignty of other nations, or for violating the rights of individuals. 

 

We have one shared future

We recognize and celebrate the value of friendship across borders, based on mutual respect, shared economic prosperity, and deep pride in our many interconnected cultures. And so we pledge to treat our North American neighbors as friends and allies, with decency and respect, in order to promote a shared future with lasting dignity, security, and prosperity for all.

 

We call on our elected officials to step up

We call on our elected officials at every level to join us in signing this pledge.
