Friendship Park, a historic meeting point for families divided by the U.S.-Mexico border, marks its 54th anniversary. First opened in 1971 by First Lady Pat Nixon, the park has long symbolized cross-border unity. However, access to the U.S. side remains limited, with most of the celebrations now occurring on the Mexican side. Advocates continue to push for greater public access to this symbolic location.
